A letter for the participants

Dear Participant,

Our field work is starting on the 30th of January, Monday. We are meeting at 7:30 at the Southern Building of the campus (Pázmány Péter sétány 1/c), at the Danube river-side (east) gate. Please be on time, because we have an arranged facility visit already in the morning.

Our accommodation is going to be in the Pilgrim Guesthouse and Hostel at Mátraverebély-Szentkút in the Cserhát mountain.

In the evenings supper (from Monday evening till Thursday evening) and breakfast (from Tuesday morning till Friday morning) will be provided for everyone.

For Monday you need to bring food and drink for yourself.

Please pack these and your other most important belongings (notebook, water resistant boot (in case you do not put it on already in the morning), any additional warm clothes) in a separate backpack, which you can bring with you on board. Your other luggage (containing everything else except the above mentioned items) will only be accessible in the evening, when we arrive to the hostel.

At the end of the day – before going to the hotel – the bus will stop at a shop where you can buy basic food for the other days.

It seems now that the weather won’t be bad, however you have to expect wet land and mud, and on the top of the mountain even snow, so appropriate robust, water-resistant shoes (two pairs preferably) and warm, water-resistant clothes are essential. The hotel provides towel, sheets and linen, so sleeping bags and things like that are not necessary.

The field trip is going to end in Budapest, Friday, early evening.

Some bits from the programme: aluminium slag industry, brick factory, mofetta (CO2 discharge), water reservoir etc.

If you still have any questions, please write to envscifieldtrip@gmail.com or post them in the FB group of the trip.
